This series of images was taken in 2009 in Namibia and in Colorado. The Namibian landscape has seen little or no water for many years. The lakebed, trees and sand are bone dry and windswept, leaving a scene of dessication. Wind is the primary force of erosion, aided only by sand. In Colorado, the opposite circumstances have occurred. There, at the San Dunes National Monument, exists a landscape formed primarily by water. Although the sand dunes look similar, in Colorado, rain is nearly a daily occurance and a river runs intermittently along the bottom edge of the dunes creating alluvial patterns in the sand.
